Exciting Opportunities for our Students!

Nigel Haworth the Michelin starred chef of  Northcote, has agreed to some exciting opportunities for our students.  Students currently on the GCSE Hospitality and Catering course may have the chance to either work ‘front of house’ or in the kitchens of one of the properties owned by the Northcote Group in order to gain a foundation apprenticeship.

This will provide students with a wonderful experience of working within a first class establishment and will enhance their future career prospects within the catering and hospitality industry.

Nigel Haworth was born in Lancashire and attended Accrington and Rossendale Catering College.  In March 1984 he began the challenging role of Head Chef at Northcote Manor and became joint Managing Director and 50% shareholder in 1989 together with Craig Bancroft.  Nigel was awarded his Michelin star in January 1996 and successfully retains this to this date.

Nigel is a champion of local producers and growers of Lancashire and celebrates and promotes Lancashire’s culinary history within the gastronomic menu’s he creates.  He makes frequent appearances on television programmes such as Saturday Kitchen and the Great British Menu, in the latter he is currently a judge.

We consider ourselves extremely fortunate and honoured to be working with the prestigious Northcote Group and excited by the valuable prospects this gives to our students, it is very generous of Nigel to offer this opportunity to our School.
